Vine V2

Vine Lamp came out of trying to work out when I'd stopped feeling my favourite feelings, and what I found there instead was shame.

It takes plenty. It takes the wanting, the ease, the reason to start. What it doesn't do is announce the theft, and that's the part that gets you: it's uncomfortable enough that you look away, and looking away is the whole invitation.

Ignored, it doesn't leave. It hooks in. It coils, quietly, until it's not sitting on you anymore, it's holding you, and by then removing it would mean taking out whatever it's wound through.

So the piece stops trying to remove it. It surrenders completely and asks the thing to be structural instead. Not recovery. The harder deal: agreeing to be made partly of what took from you, on the condition it carries something now.

It holds the light. Nothing here got fixed. Something here got used.

Designed digitally in Blender and fabricated through large-format resin 3D printing across the studio's printer fleet, with cast resin sections and epoxy clay, hand-assembled, hand-painted and finished in high-gloss.
