Toothpaste Mirror

Thirty inches square, wavy frame, small bumps down the edges. Like someone squeezed a perfect square out of a tube.

The intention was to make something distinctive. What came out is a square, recognisably and unmistakably a square, with a wobble in it. The deviation is real but it's modest, and there's an uncertainty in that which the piece doesn't hide. Is this actually different, or is this just a normal thing with texture?

That question sits behind a lot of making. You want the piece to be unlike anything else. You look at the finished object and see how much of it came from somewhere you'd seen before. The wanting is genuine. The originality is partial. Both are true, and most work lives in that gap.

This is a made-to-order piece. Orders placed between June 15 and July 2026 will begin fulfilment after July due to a studio relocation. Standard lead time applies from that date.
