Melt Chair

Every leg, strut and backrest rail is warped and out of line. Nothing meets where it should. The whole thing looks like it was left somewhere warm and gave up.

But this isn't rebellion. It isn't refusing the shape of a chair, it's attempting it and not getting there. The intention is completely legible in every part. This rail wanted to be straight. That leg wanted to be vertical. The frame wanted to be square. You can see what each piece was going for, and you can see exactly where it lost the thread.

That gap between the shape you were trying to hold and the shape you actually came out as is not a defiant place to be. It's a confusing one. There was no decision to be different. It just didn't work out, repeatedly, in every direction at once.

And it sits perfectly fine. Finished in a high-gloss ceramic-style coat that makes the whole thing look like it could still be dripping.

This is a made-to-order piece. Orders placed between June 15 and July 2026 will begin fulfilment after July 15 due to a studio relocation. Standard lead time applies from that date.

Fabrication note: hand-sculpted in Monster Clay, cast in resin through a silicone mold, and hand-finished.
