This is meant to be a bookshelf.

It's seven feet tall, leaning, made of oversized bubble forms hollowed into one another, and it has expanded so far past its function that the function has effectively been dropped. The volume came first. The job it was supposed to do is somewhere underneath, still technically there, no longer the point.

Nothing about the inflation is useful. It doesn't help it hold more, doesn't make it work better, doesn't do anything except take up more room than it needs, and it takes up a lot. Part of the You Are Small Here series, which is what the scale is for. Standing next to it, you do the arithmetic on yourself.

There's something familiar in an object that got so absorbed in becoming large that it stopped mentioning what it was originally for.

This is a made-to-order piece. Orders placed between June 15 and July 2026 will begin fulfilment after July due to a studio relocation. Standard lead time applies from that date.

Fabrication note: designed digitally in Blender, then fabricated through large-format resin 3D printing across the studio's printer fleet, hand-assembled and finished in-studio.
